CB SERIES 2008

Venue: Australia

Participants: Australia, India and Srilanka.

Winning CB series can not be less important than winning a world cup for any of these teams, as it will picture out whether there will be a new team to dominate cricket in the future. Australia has enjoyed a monopoly in cricket since last decade, winning three consecutive world cup between 1999 and 2007. The WIN/LOSS ratio for Australia is clearly above any other team, which proves that they are a true champion. But, scene has been changing. Anything that goes up should fall down. But it's not defined when Australia is destined to fall down. Is it in this CB series?

The second round of the preliminary round will end up tomorrow with the match between Australia and Srilanka. Australia is enjoying the top position in the point table, but it is not ultimate. India is doing well, and is able to shift above Australia. Srilanka is lagging behind, but not out of the marathon to final. Srilankan lions are as good as Australian and Indian as this point. So, still there is no clear picture which two teams are going to play in the best of 3 finals?

Team Analysis

Australia: The world champion Australia depends upon its experienced batsmen but quite unexperienced bowlers. Matthew Hayden, Michael Hussy, Adam Gilchrist, Andrew Symonds, Michael Clarke along with Captain Ricky Ponting are the keys of the batting lineup, while the only experienced bowler is Brett Lee (and Nathan Bracken). However, Mitchell Johnson did well so far. But ironically, its batting that is a headache to Australians and they might see solving this matter soon.

India: India is playing with relatively new side, with new players making 75:25 place in the team. Batting lineup include experienced Sachin Tendulkar and Sehwag ( who isnot consistent because of poor form) followed by Yuvaj Singh, Dhoni and lots of new guys. Bowling is similar with Irfan Pathan as an experienced candidate followed by Srisanth and other new guys. If the composition of experienced and young blood can tingle together nicely, this team has a probable chance to lift the cup.

Srilanka: Srilanka has some new players which I don't know. But Sangakara and Jayawardhane are capable of doing good for their team. And we have veteran Jayasuriya....and Muralidharan. So, can't underestimate this power house.

So, what u think?? Who is going to win?
