  1. It is not a new thing to hear politicians talk about the Constituent Assembly (CA). But when students talk about it, it is a good change. Worldwide Nepalese Students' Organization - Nepal (WNSO) provided a platform for twelve students representing different colleges from the Kathmandu Valley to talk about "The role of youth in Constituent Assembly". On the occasion of the inter-college speech competition held at the United World Trade Centre at Tripureshwar, students of Certificate and Bachelors level gave speeches on the possible roles that youth can play before, during and after the CA polls. The first part of the program, the inaugural session, featured speeches from the guests. Abhi Subedi, the chief guest of the program, and other guests spoke about the relevance of the competition and the need of the youth to play a more active role in CA. However, the attendance at the program was meager - the turnout did not exceed fifty participants. Geeta Pathak Sangroula, the chief guest of the contest session, expressed, "The relevance of the competition in the present context is most suitable. However, the participants themselves were not clear about certain aspects and importance of the CA." When quizzed about the suitability of the program, she said, "It is good for the participants that they have now learnt more about CA. However, the competition would have been more effective had the presence been more encouraging." Pratik Bhandari from SOS was declared the best speaker who took home a cash prize of Rs 10,000, while Marshal Kumar Oli of Amrit Science College and Rajendra Pokhrel of R R Campus were declared second and third who won Rs 5,000 and Rs 2,500 respectively. Sandesh Shrestha of Kathmandu School of Law was awarded the consolation prize. Jagannath Kharel, a member of the organizing committee, illustrated the objective of the program thus, "Since most of us do not know what CA is, we wanted more people to know about it, including the organizers. Thus, the main objective of the program is for information dissemination as well as leadership building in students." Source: Kathmandu Post, 9 October 2007
  2. I am not very much clear/familiar with this ICC terms. However, I do appreceate the proposed events and --"atleast" there's a hope that there are few good citizens on the earth, "atleast". I will involve as much as I can from UK since, this is where I am geographically located. There is so much difference between talking and get the 'job done'. I am not aware of the fact how many nepali students live in which country, but I am in WNSO because she is the first and the head of all nepali student organisation. I have got offline membership as well, but never got chance to say a word to the meetings. Please let me know about your forthcoming calender meeting. Altho Leadership is a hard won, the flawless execution of open minded may always help us to stay on the top of the range, online and most importantly offline. Flexibility and commitment is more essential on the organisation than any other elements. Since this is an educational institution, we have to seek for the talented think tank on behalf of the most backward nation. Let's walk together with infectious sense of nepali spirit.
