Help needed.

My boss's laptopís hard drive gone bust. Windows 2000 that was installed now show blue screen, no matter whether it is safe mode or normal mode. I tried to install windows 2000 again and it said drive is corrupt, therefore, it need to be formatted. I also tried Windows 98, same problem. I have to retrieve the data first, which is very important to me than laptop itself. Mistake was, we have not backed up his stuff for one year, and he will lose all his stuff if I could not save it, and by theory, it will be my fault not to protect companyís data.

I use windows 98 CD to boot and go to command prompt, good news is now I can see page using dos command.

I now need help how can I use PCM CIA card to connect to Network and backup data? I have downloaded driver for this card which also said supports DOS. How do I install it while DOS is not plug and play.

I have 3com 3CXFE575BT PCMCIA card. Urgent help require please.

To connect to network using DOS

Try to download " Microsoft Network Client 3.0" or latest version....

Here is the link where you can download Microsoft Network Client 3.0

DISK 1
DISK 2

Then insert the first disk and type a:\setup.exe
I am not sure wheather it supports all the network cards though.

other way.....
It will be better if you could simply re-install...
Did you try to install from DOS?
It takes a long time but it works.....
Use Windows 98 start up disk to boot..
then type.
CD-drive:\i386\winnt.exe

If you got only one partition then I don't think this works as it can't read NTFS partition if you are using....
