Less than 20 more days remain for the commencement of most awaited sporting event of 2007- Let's us all cricket fans welcome World Cup Cricket 2007.

From now onwards to the post-world cup, we will be talking about the different aspects of the tournament. We will focus on the following key areas:

a) Team composition- Which player should be in, which one should be out?
cool.gif Which team is probable of winning the cup?
c) Who do you think gonna be the best player of the tournament?

We will be analyzing the team on its past and present performance. I invite all my WNSO members who have good, little or no knowledge about cricket to participate in this forum. Post you comments and views over the upcoming cricket carnival of the decade.

Each participant has already published its 15 members competing in the world cup. The list can be viewed from the following link provided by cricinfo.com-Squad Composition

It is surprising to see some infamous name being excluded from the final 15. Similarly many injured players are included. Starting with Australia, who will play in the tournament as the defending champion has included Andrew Symonds who had injured his finger during the match. Brett Lee has still to prove his fitness. So, may be this is not the final set of players to play in the world cup.
English team has excluded its key players from last world cup, Ashley Giles and Mathew Hoggard. May be they are not fit in the strategic plannig of the team.
Surprise to see India taking out VVS Laxman and Mohammad Kaif (though both of them are undergoing poor form at the moment).
Similarly, Pakistan let out Mohammad Sami. I think he is the most attractive bowler we have in Pakistani team at present.
South Africa is playin without Boeta Dippenar and Jaque Rudolph. South Africa has given enough chance to them and most of the time they failed to prove themselves. However, personally I believe they both are the very good players, better than some of the other players who are submitted in final 15.
Srilanka and West Indies don't have major change in the team and they are playing with the best 15.
New Zealand kicks out the veteran Chris Harris, however, it won't be too problematic for this high energetic team after creating whitewash against giant Australia.

There is no much to say about other teams in the tournament because they will just be spectators. I don't know much about the players in this team, however, I can say that Bangladesh will play with much improvement in this tournament. May be they can make to the next round. We will analyse other teams as the tournament proceeds.

The above is the link in my blog where I have written something about World Cup and some links have been given there to know more. Let's develop this thread as a forum for talking about WORLD CUP CRICKET 2007.
I request everybody to put their inputs only in this thread and start talking. World Cup is only around 15 days far and there are many teams they are participating. As I have already written that India has a good chance, so has for South Africa, England, New ZEland, and the KING Australia.
But, I still feel India can win. What u guys think? Let's talk here.

Here's my fav. team's SQUAD

1. Inzamam-ul-Haq (captain)
2. Younis Khan (vice-captain)
3. Abdul Razzaq
4. Danish Kaneria
5. Iftikhar Anjum
6. Imran Nazir
7. Kamran Akmal (wicketkeeper)
8. Mohammad Asif
9. Mohammad Hafeez
10. Mohammad Yousuf
11. Naved-ul-Hasan
12. Shahid Afridi
13. Shoaib Akhtar
14. Shoaib Malik
15. Umar Gul

This is my fav. team. They have excellent all-rounders. Among them, Mohammad Yousuf is my fav. batsman (he plays in cool way...."take it easy" style......Shahid Afridi aka BOOM BOOM AFRIDI...my all time fav. sad.gif..so sad..that he's going to miss the first two matches
and....Shoaib Malik.....this boy has got talent ...only he needs is consistency.....
Danish...as Inzi said....he is one of the player who could be a star ....he's improving very well....

for fielding...I'd go for the teams like SA, AUS, NZ...they're good at fielding......I don't know but...as far as I'm concerned...IND should improve its fielding....they just donate runs (more than 25~30) just by misfielding....

......PAKIs too ought to think about its fielding....

so..as a whole my fav. team is PAKIS..coz ..first of all they are so strong in bowling...full with top all-rounders...what they need is.............
AKTHAR...don't throw wide too much.....
AFRIDI.....don't be too excited
NAZIR AND BUTT....show your power and consistency..be there until over 15 finished...then YOUNIS KHAN AND MMD. YOUSUF will finish the job....
INZI......I don't have to say anything to you...but please make your tail strong.....your team is like...if it is 145-5 then ...after few minutes...160-all out!!

ANYWAY.....CHEERS FOR PAKs

Ok, good. My friends have shown a good response to my appeal smile.gif but i personally think Pakistan has very least chance Coz: Their openers are waste. They proved that they are waste in recent tour of South Africa and I do not think that they are improving any more.
second in all probabilities, Akhtar and Asif will miss the Windies Plane coz of doping issue(primarily) and coz of injuiry (that comes out in media as a reason of missing)
Younis khan, Shohaib mallik and afridi all are not in such a good form. and i have least hope that Afridi clicks anymore. May click in some match against some non test playing nations but t5hat will be immeterial.
Now, that means Yosuf, Inzamam, and Kaneria has to shoulder all the burden. Yes they are good, they can shoulder that responsibility but that will not be enough for pakistan to win the match.
