hehe..i know...sounds like their driver is pretty much screwed up. Well i gave up with SMC 802.11g card, i uninstalled that, and installed D-Link card ( it is 802.11b though) , it worked without any problem.
I am not too excited with SMC products!! Wireless router seems to be working fine.

It is kinda cool that my wireless NIC scans and finds nearby networks. I find one more network probably one of my neighbors network. Looks like he has LinkSys router. I can just connect to that ..and get online ..hehe smile.gif
I need to disable ESSID broadcast!! and enable encryption WEP or WAP. May be pretty soon i need to install/enable Radius server!!!
Man Wireless networking is fun fun fun smile.gif

You should know that only 802.11 B is a standarsized protocol.
Check the pci-version of this card. Maybe your pci-bus is too old!!!
And check if this card is able to work with 802.11b as well.

If there is a driver for your OS ( win 2000 ) and you have the right pci-bus and it is still not workin, the card is probably broken. Exchange it!

I only wish to be the fountain of love, from which you drink. Every drop promising eternal passion!!

Shima,,thanx for ur input.
802.11b only supports up to 11Mbps, where as 802.11g supports up to 54Mbps,,,also u can download the firmware that makes it support upto 108Mbps i think.

Btw, found out the card itself is faulty. I am replacing it soon.
